You do know that timing boost will make a 17.5 just as fast as 13.5 motor. Even on dirt.

Yes i know but still running in dirt puts more strain on the motors and esc ,so they will heat up easy with high timing and boost. Also like i said before driving skills will play a big part as well. Here there is only one straight away were that much boost and timing will help out the most.

Ill race my 13.5 with no timing advance against any 17.5 on boost any day. From what I have seen most people arent able to take advantage of the extra power. it just makes them push too hard and make lost more mistakes. Skill far outweighs the small advantage of timing advance in my opinion.

How about everyone just race in the Open class Smile

I had the novak 10.5 out today in my 2wd Slash, and it was a fantastic. No problems handling it, actually might try a 8.5 to give it even more speed. I'd say its just as easy or easier than 17.5 because you have more power to blast out of the corners and get around (or out of the way of) other people.

    RAZORBURN

Tracks opens at 9 ,but some guys will be there by 8:30.

Just a reminder to everyone, with tomorrow being the first day of the season.PLEASE have patience with everyone and me,as well as any possible delays being that its the first race of the season. There will be some new racers it will take them a little time to get used to the "flow "of the race day.
Tomorrow three five minute heats and seven minute mains.

Thanks to everyone who came for opening day !!! It was a long day.Sorry for the late start but once we got running everything ran well.Everyone seemed to like the track layout and surface.Even when it got dry ,it still wasn't dusty like past years. Will be putting more clay/mix down on the small portion of the track that doesn't have it yet. That will help the lower "s" turn area from getting so rutted up.

There was a lot of talk about the 1/8th electrics class. Most of the talk and interest was in the new class this year, 1/10 2wd electric buggy and even interest in 1/10 4wd buggy!

See everyone nest Sunday, and remember racing starts at 10am,track opens at 9 am .You can get there early if you like ,but the shop want be open until 9.

I will post results and some pictures on the track site soon.

    Again Thanks Everyone!!!!

Sean had a blast! Great start to the year. The R/C Gods were looking out for us by keeping the rain away. Unfortunately the same couldn't be said of the locust swarm lol!

The track was in great shape, people were friendly, the races went smooth, and everyone did great corner marshalling. I was pretty excited doing so well with my ancient rc10 buggy, that thing hadn't seen dirt in 20 years! And never on a track with huge jumps. Stunned it didn't break.

The only thing I'd add is to shorten the day somehow. Combo smaller classes, do 2 heats 1 main, run extra large classes, cancel intermission between heats if the track doesn't need water or maintenance, etc. Now personally I don't mind racing till the cows come home, but I could tell fatigue was starting to set in towards the end.

Just a heads up! Next week a bunch of racers will be jumping from stock to open 2wd. Should be fun and also open up the stock class to more competition. Cant wait cheers

    Kevin

I was told about the switch to open class.Don't forget we started very late this past Sunday, which was my fault.
For now i will be running the three heats and a main .When i polled racers during the winter most wanted the three/one set up.
The only time at this point that i will do 2 heats and 1 main on Sunday ,is if looks like its going to rain.
The two smaller classes that i had Sunday will grow as the season goes on.Last year Sportsmans class always had at least one full heat and some time 2 full heats. The Traxxas Spec class there will be a couple more this week.

Kevin, all it takes is 4 to make a vintage class.Rules for that class usually is pre 90's.
